You can help us by donating to our GoFundMe page. We have raised almost $50,000, which has allowed us to establish Sophie’s Legacy and complete our work to date.
Donations will go towards current national campaigns and future campaigns to raise awareness of this critical issue in our veterinary industry.
Donate NowSophie’s Legacy Survey
Our first campaign was intended for us to gain insight into how we could try to help an industry in crisis.
The survey attracted responses from almost 600 vets and staff in 10 days, many of whom were aged under 35. The respondents fearlessly and frankly outlined the critical issues facing the industry including client abuse, excessive workloads and hours and vet and staff shortages.
Lobbying Key Industry Organisations & Members of Parliament
The Putland family continues to lobby key vet industry organisations including Sustainable Vet Careers; the Australian Veterinary Association, Love your Pets, Flynn’s Walk, Greencross Vets, Vet Partners and the Adelaide University Vet School.
In April, Kate and Garry Putland met South Australian Minister for Primary Industries, Regional Development, Forestry, Hon Clare Scriven to discuss Sophie’s Legacy and outline the crisis facing the industry.
“Sick as a Dog” Podcast - with Caroline Winter
