#### Million Steps Challenge - Oldbury Equine Clinic To raise awareness around the mental health issues faced by veterinarians, and support the amazing work of Sophie's Legacy, everyone at OEC will be partaking in the 'Million Steps Challenge'. Physical exercise is also a great way to boost mood, so we're super excited to tackle this challenge! We'll be posting updates via our socials channels throughout! Our goal: Between 1st July & 30th September each team member will achieve 1M steps (roughly 10,000 per day)!

We aim to do that by being a voice to challenge misconceptions about the veterinary industry and to inform the public about being respectful and positive in every interaction. As an industry that contributes so much to Australian life we want to lobby governments and industry to make changes that help all vet staff flourish. We appreciate your support!
Monkey Run - Mongolia Ryan Donovan, James Stewart Koster, Luke McKnight, Claudia De Rose and Christian De Rose are five friends under the team name Sophie's Legacy who are entering the Mongolian Monkey Run from the 9th of September and finish on the 19th. Over 10 days they'll be trekking 1000km on 50cc motorbikes against multiple other teams from around the world, they start in the Gobi Desert in the south and finish in the mountains near the border of Russia. There's no actual prizes for the winning team, it's all just a bit of fun....and they're raising needed funds for Sophie’s Legacy, a charity dear to Ryan who is studying in the vet industry and wants to see a brighter future for all vet staff. So please help Ryan and his mates to make a difference .

Quality Veterinary Care Centre Paint and Sip Evening At QVCC (Quality Veterinary Care Centre) we’re aiming to raise $2000, a small but meaningful step toward creating lasting change in the veterinary industry. These funds will help us continue Sophie’s Legacy by promoting mental health awareness, supporting those struggling in silence, and reminding every vet, nurse, and carer that they are not alone. We're hosting a Paint and Sip evening where participants will create personalised pet portraits while celebrating the love and care we share for animals. This creative and relaxing environment will also serve as a space to share Sophie’s story—a powerful reflection on the impact of mental health within the veterinary industry. Through art and conversation, we aim to honour her legacy and continue the mission of "saving the people who save animals." We hope to foster open conversations, encourage reflection, and uphold the ongoing legacy, supporting and protecting the well-being of those who dedicate their lives to caring for animals. All costs will be covered, and all ticket money will go directly to Sophie’s Legacy, including our donation jar during the month of October.

Swim Challenge - Ellie Waters As I approach the end of my third year working as a mixed practice vet, my passion for my job and the people who make veterinary care possible is stronger than ever. To finish up 2025, I would love to contribute to the great work that Sophie's Legacy does, by swimming 15km (600 pool lengths) across the month of December in honour of Sophie, and all of my colleagues who work tirelessly to care for the world's animals!
Life Force is a full-day nervous system regulation and breakthrough experience created to support emotional wellbeing, human connection, and collective healing. This event is not a performance or motivational seminar. It is a grounded, trauma-aware space where people are guided to slow down, regulate their nervous system, reconnect with themselves and others, and build the internal capacity needed to navigate stress, overwhelm, and modern life more sustainably. Life Force is held in sacred partnership with Sophie’s Legacy to raise awareness around mental health and suicide prevention, particularly within high-pressure industries such as veterinary care. Why this partnership matters At its core, Life Force exists because too many people are carrying pressure silently, operating in survival mode, and lacking safe spaces for regulation and connection. This work directly aligns with the mission of Sophie’s Legacy — supporting mental health, reducing stigma, and honouring lives lost while supporting those still here. Event Details – Full-day immersive experience – Focus on nervous system regulation, breathwork, somatic practices, reflection, and integration – Held in Adelaide with a capped, intimate group size – Designed to be accessible, grounded, and deeply human Fundraising Commitment – $20 from every Life Force ticket is donated directly to Sophie’s Legacy – Minimum donation goal for this event: $1,000 – Total fundraising goal for 2026: $3,000 through Life Force and aligned offerings The donation QR code and landing page will allow attendees and supporters to contribute directly to Sophie’s Legacy, ensuring transparency and impact beyond the event itself. Brisbane Half Marathon Challenge After three years with Lincoln Institute of Veterinary Business, Becky has witnessed firsthand the dedication, compassion, and resilience of veterinary professionals across Australia and New Zealand. Through her work alongside Sophie’s Legacy - and its Little Things Campaign - that mission has become deeply personal. Because behind every role in a veterinary practice is a human being who deserves support, understanding, and care, and often it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. Now, she’s taking on the Brisbane Half Marathon. This won’t be easy - swapping Guatemala for winter in Australia, racing at sea level, and taking on 21.1km just days after a 36-hour journey across the world. But that’s the point. Because some challenges are worth showing up for.

Perfect Pet Parent Co. @ Brisbane Dog Lovers Festival
We’re Brianna and Lisa, vet nurses and co-founders of Perfect Pet Parent Co., an online platform helping pet owners better understand their pet’s health and feel confident in their care. We’re both deeply passionate about raising awareness for mental health within the veterinary industry. At the Brisbane Dog Lovers Festival this May, we’ll be donating $5 from every Pet Health Guide sold to Sophie’s Legacy. Our guide not only supports pet parents but also brings awareness to what happens behind the scenes in veterinary care, encouraging empathy, understanding, and a greater sense of shared care. Our goal is to raise $1,000+ across the weekend, and we’d love your support.
Hi, I’m Lizzie, a 4th-year Veterinary Science student at Charles Sturt University. This year, I’m running the Sydney Marathon to raise funds for Sophie’s Legacy. The veterinary profession is built on care, but too often those within it struggle in silence. Veterinarians are four times more likely to die by suicide than the general population, something I find completely unacceptable. I’ve seen firsthand how important support can be, and I’ve been fortunate to have it when I’ve needed it. Not everyone does, and no one should have to walk this path alone. I’m running to help create a future where veterinary professionals are supported, valued, and never alone. Thank you for your support.
Moorong Veterinary Clinic Morning Tea - Our clinic will be hosting its annual morning tea in support of Sophie’s Legacy on Friday May 1st at 11:00am in the reception area. This event is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate our veterinary team, while also encouraging connection and open check-ins with one another. Sophie’s Legacy highlights the importance of mental health awareness within the veterinary profession, and this morning tea allows us to come together in support of that message in a relaxed and welcoming environment. All staff are encouraged to attend and be part of this meaningful initiative.
Swim for Sophie Tony Royal is taking on an extraordinary challenge under the banner of Sophie's Legacy — swimming 35km of open water over 7 days through the stunning Yasawa Islands, Fiji, from the 10th to the 16th of October 2026. Each day Tony will dive into the crystal-clear waters of the South Pacific, pushing through the swells and currents of one of the world's most beautiful, and unforgiving, stretches of ocean. It's not a race, there's no finish line trophy, just raw determination, open water and a cause worth swimming for. Tony is doing it to raise much needed funds for Sophie's Legacy, a charity close to his heart, that is fighting for a brighter future for those working in the veterinary industry, because no one who dedicates their life to caring for animals should ever feel alone.
